AI doesn't need your client's data.
No account · The AI gets the situation, not the identity
In yellow: the detection isn't sure. Click to mask — or select any passage. Nothing gets masked without you.
Local processing
Detection, masking and restoring run on your machine. No server and no model sees your original text.
Manual masking
Names, projects and places often slip through. Select a passage, choose a category, and it is masked.
Client context restored
The AI keeps placeholders intact. At the end, your real data goes back in, ready to send.
Secrets never restored
Passwords, API keys and tokens are removed permanently, not masked. They never come back.
The questions worth asking first.
Will the AI's reply still be usable?
Yes. Placeholders keep the sentence intact: the AI gets the situation, not the identity. At the Restore step your real data goes back in and the final text is ready to send.
Does my text leave my browser?
No, and it is not stored anywhere. Detection, manual masking and restoring all happen on your machine. Only the cleaned text goes anywhere, and only if you copy it into your AI tool.
Which AI tools can I use?
Any tool that works on text. Preprompted doesn't connect to your assistant: you paste the cleaned text into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, Mistral or whatever you use.
What if Preprompted misses something sensitive?
Select it in the cleaned text, pick a category, mask it. It becomes a placeholder like the others and comes back in the reply.
How does restoring work?
When you paste the AI's reply, Preprompted swaps each placeholder back to your original data, right in your browser.
What happens if I refresh or close the page?
The placeholders are cleared. Finish the round-trip in the same tab — or start again from your original text: the same placeholders come back. Only manual masks need redoing.
Are passwords and API keys restored?
No. They're removed for good and never come back. Don't paste them here, or into a general-purpose AI tool.
Does Preprompted guarantee full anonymisation?
No, and we don't claim it does. Automatic detection can miss an indirect identifier or a detail specific to your client. Always read it over before sending.
